After all what is faster: Ubuntu 12.10 or Windows 8?

The war between operating system is something that has always existed in the world of computing. The war is certainly more intense in the field of mobile devices, including iOS and Android, but the segment of desktop operating systems to the eternal comparison between Windows and Linux systems continues.
While there are several quality criteria to assess an operating system, such as security, reliability, complete programming interface, simple and well documented truth is that the tendency is always to make an evaluation based on performance.
Windows 8 or Ubuntu 12.10, after which the fastest?

Windows 8 was to be known as the ultra-fast operating system! However, this is only possible if you have a system with multi-core processor, SSD and UEFI technology (learn more here ).
Moreover, and despite the Linux stand out, in terms of performance, other operating systems, the truth is that the latest versions of Ubuntu distribution have received some criticism from users ( some suggestions to improve performance ).
But the question remains!! Ubuntu or WIndows 8, which is faster?
To answer this question, nothing better than having two machines side by side exactly alike! The video below shows the results of two tests:
  • 1) Boot
  • 2) Log in
Specifications of the machines
  • Intel Core i7 2600 K@3.40 Ghz
  • 16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333 Mhz
  • Western Digital Hard Drive 7200.10 RPM

Let's see who is faster :

Surprised? After all the time differences are not so disparate.

Disillusioned with Windows 8 or surprised or with Ubuntu 12.10?

Of course the goal is to expand the capability for more applications and services and there are more options in addition to free, paid for a package that can acquire. It was interesting in the future be more services.

We will have to adjust well defined intervals so you can make sense and that the application recognizes the pattern of these combinations.

Nevertheless, it should be borne in mind that while the 8StartButton is certainly recognized as a Start menu, users may not face exactly the same as the menu found on previous versions of Windows - it is this rather a renovation and addition the new and controversial look of Windows 8.
As a complement, the tiles can be included in the Start menu for easy access to our most used tools, and the right-click menu can be customized to allow access to additional options.

The free version presented here is really just a sample of what we can expect in the full version. For only $ 14 this can be possibly a cheap way to make Windows 8 work the way you want!
