After all what is faster: Ubuntu 12.10 or Windows 8?

The war between operating system is something that has always existed in the world of computing. The war is certainly more intense in the field of mobile devices, including iOS and Android, but the segment of desktop operating systems to the eternal comparison between Windows and Linux systems continues.
While there are several quality criteria to assess an operating system, such as security, reliability, complete programming interface, simple and well documented truth is that the tendency is always to make an evaluation based on performance.
Windows 8 or Ubuntu 12.10, after which the fastest?

Windows 8 was to be known as the ultra-fast operating system! However, this is only possible if you have a system with multi-core processor, SSD and UEFI technology (learn more here ).
Moreover, and despite the Linux stand out, in terms of performance, other operating systems, the truth is that the latest versions of Ubuntu distribution have received some criticism from users ( some suggestions to improve performance ).
But the question remains!! Ubuntu or WIndows 8, which is faster?
To answer this question, nothing better than having two machines side by side exactly alike! The video below shows the results of two tests:
  • 1) Boot
  • 2) Log in
Specifications of the machines
  • Intel Core i7 2600 K@3.40 Ghz
  • 16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333 Mhz
  • Western Digital Hard Drive 7200.10 RPM

Let's see who is faster :

Surprised? After all the time differences are not so disparate.

Disillusioned with Windows 8 or surprised or with Ubuntu 12.10?

Aaron Swartz, creator of RSS commits suicide

Life is full of ups and downs! According to information published in several international sites and have been confirmed recently by the lawyer's own uncle and Aaron Swartz, this will have committed suicide on 11th January in New York, in her apartment.
Born in 1986, Swartz was co-author of the first specification of the RSS when he was only 14 years and was co-founder of the site Reddit (news website based on social sharing). He was a defender of freedom of expression and free flow of information on the Internet and awaiting trial for being accused of stealing about 5 million documents in a web-based platform called JSTOR.

Swartz, through some articles published, was already showing signs of depression and health. Student at Stanford University, a member of the Experimental Center for Ethics at Harvard University, became known after being accused in July 2011 of breaking into the servers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and stealing about 5 million articles of scientific content and literário.Sabe that the penalty could reach 35 years in prison.

Considered a genius by the hacker community, Swartz was also a founder of Demand Progress , a group of defenders of freedom of expression on the Internet, created with the aim of achieving progressive changes in policies. Note that this group stood out during the protests against the bill SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).
Swartz dies at age 26 ... and certainly that this "small" Computer prodigy would still much to give the world of computing / technology.
